课题:Unit 5 Lesson 1 Performance ( Module 2 ) 教学设计

 

执教时间:2006-12-7

执教地点:阶梯教室

执教班级:高一(3)班

执教教师:祁文圣

 

教学目标:1、知识与能力  了解并掌握与音乐会、表演相关的单词及短语;

                         了解如何介绍音乐会。

 

2、过程与方法  遵循阅读课整体教学的模式,运用情境教学法和交际法,分三个主要步骤进行,即 pre-reading  while-reading post-reading

 

3、情感态度与价值观   敢于用英语进行交流和表达;能了解英语国家艺术家阿兰妮丝•莫里塞特成长历程、成就和贡献;能了解和尊重异国文化,培养世界文化意识。

 

教学重点:1、分析音乐会简介的结构、框

2、学会找出段落中心句;

 

教学难点:1掌握与音乐会相关的句型;

          2、学会从上下文中猜测词义;

 

教学方法:合作学习法;任务型学习法

 

教学准备:多媒体课件

 

课时安排:一课时

 

教学步骤:

 

Task One  Before you start

Step 1. Warm-up

Show some pictures of live concerts. Then get the students to work in groups of 4 and discuss the words and phrases related to concerts and performance.

(Purpose: Arouse students’ interest and get them be familiar with the topic of this lesson.)

 

Step 2. Lead-in

Show students an example. Then ask students to talk about concerts they have watched and to give their opinions.

(Purpose: encourage them to say as much as possible and help them memorize the key words appearing in step 1. )

 

Step 3. Presentation

Show some photos of Alanis Morissette and briefly introduce her to the class.

(Purpose: Stimulate students’ curiosity and get them ready to learn the text.)

 

Task  Two  Read to learn

 

Step 4. Listening

Play the tape and let students find out the answers to the following questions:

1.      Who was mentioned in the text

2.      How long did the concert last?

(Purpose: Encourage students to listen to the general idea.)

 

Step 5. Scanning

Ask students to scan the text quickly and match the four paragraphs with the titles (a-d).

(Purpose: Help students analyze the structure of a concert review and get the topic sentence from the article.)

 

Step 6. Guessing the meaning

Get students find out the words given from the article

(Purpose: Teach students how to guess the meanings of new words from the context.)

 

Step 7. Careful reading

1.      Allow students more time to read the text carefully and discuss multiple-choice exercises in groups.

2.      Get students to work in pairs and do true-or-false exercises.

(Purpose: Check how much they have master and see if there are still any language problems to be solved.)

 

Step 8. Useful expressions

Remind students the important phrases in the text.

(Purpose: Master some important language points in the article.)

 

Step 9. Group work

Work in groups of 4 and finish information-gap exercise.

 (Purpose: Train students cooperative ability.)

 

Task  Three  Voice you opinion

 

 

Step 10. Role play

Work in pairs and make an interview. One student pretends to be a report and the other a person who attended her concert last Thursday.

(Purpose: Teach students how to use the phrases and patterns learned in class in their daily communication.)

 

Step 11. Discussion

1.Get the students in groups and discuss: Which performer would you like to hear at a concert? Give your reasons. Show students an example to help them.

2.Each group chooses one student to show their group’s opinion.

(Purpose: Train the students’ speaking ability and creativity)

 

Step 12. Enjoyment

Play a song by Alanis and ask students if they love her performance.

(Purpose: Give students the first-hand experience to appreciate Alanis.)

 

Step 13. Homework

1.Go over lesson 1.

2.Write an article about a concert students have attended in 100 words.
